The Hand That Rocked My Cradle

I wrote this song for my mama.  She never got to hear it, a big regret in my life.  Everytime I sing it, I think of all that she did for me and my four brothers - James, Dezo, Ronnie and Michael.  We are who we are because of her.  She is my angel now......

The Hand That Rocked My Cradle

I heard my grandma tell my mama
when I was just a girl
The hand that rocks a cradle rules the world
She said you gotta do what must be done
Don't you sit around and wait for nobody to come
Hold your head up high, raise these babies right
Let 'em know their loved, tuck 'em in every night
No matter what the circumstances do your best
The good Lord up above will take care of the rest

Tell Me Something

Okay so you go into a bar alone and you just get tired of the same ol' same ol, ya' know
This song is about that........

Could you do me a favor?
Come up with something new.
Say something meaningful
Say something that sounds true
I saw you walking over here
'Cause I'm sitting all by myself
But, I'll just get back to it, 'less you're offering something

Chorus
You got to tell me something
Tell me something that I haven't heard before
Why don't you talk to me and make me want you
Talk to me and make me want you more
And I might just go with you tonite
I might just let you hold me tight, but you got to tell me something

If you want to get to know me, I've got a few demands
Start with some intelligence, use your head and not
your hands
If that's why you came out tonite, try the lady next to me
She looks like she's working, you should check and see

Chorus

Bridge
I just need to believe it's me you want to know
If anyone will do, then you have got to go
You got to tell me something, tell me something

We can talk about religion or maybe politics
We can talk about the evening news
Review the latest flicks
But here's a word of warning
If you rock that same ol' stuff
You can keep it to yourself because I've heard enough

Chorus

The Ballad of Me and You

I got even with you today and it didn’t feel good
Went out dancing with somebody else just like I said I would
When he looked at me, it wasn’t you
And in a second I knew
I’d rather be fighting with you than happy with somebody new

What does that say about me, I know I oughta’ be through
There’s a whole lot of men, why did I have to chose you
Whenever I see you, my heart skips a beat, I can’t deny that it’s true
I’d rather be fighting with you than happy with somebody new

I’ve tried many times to say my final goodbyes
Oh but I keep coming back, I just one more look in your eyes
Unhappy together, Unhappy apart, oh what am I gonna’ do
I’d rather be fighting with you than happy with somebody new

I know I should find someone else to take your place
Oh but all I remember is the first time I saw your face
I gave you my heart a long time ago, and it’s so hard to let go
Cause I gave you my heart such a long time ago, and baby you know it’s true
I’d rather be fighting with you than happy with somebody new

Never Say A Word
